Just another day
It's just another day. Today is Tuesday. I'm still waiting to hear about a job. This is so very frustrating. They're waiting to hear back from my references. That's all they need to know whether they want to hire me or not. Seriously? Ugh. They can't tell whether they want to hire me or not just by my interview? I guess they have guidelines to follow or something. I don't know. They were able to get one reference. My supervisor back at Parkview couldn't give them a reference because it's Parkview's policy. Whatever. I guess they need at least 2 references. Anyways, I'm just feeling depressed and antsy and whatever. Boo hoo me. So also, I still haven't received my taxes. Another frustrating factor in my life. I filed them February 25 and still haven't received payment. Apparently changing my name confused the crap out of them. Seriously, my name was Mock now it's Edwards. Simple as that. Also, last Thursday I took $2000 off the asking price of my house. There are 3 things that are weighing me down. No job, not getting my taxes, and my house just sitting there. So this is me venting. Sorry if it's depressing. Anyways, that's all I have to say for now. Love you and miss you.

Hee hee
So I realized I've update you on me and my status. I'm thinking you should know more about what's going on with Ryan considering this is a bog for both of us. So, he is still in the process of decomissioning his boat. This basically means that his boat is being retired. It's the oldest boat at this time. So it's time to put it to rest. So basically they go to work every day. He has to be there around 7:30am. They shred important documents, they tear holes in the boat, basically tear it apart. I think it was about a week ago that it was dry docked, meaning they took the huge submarine out of water. That would have been pretty cool to see. I'm sure Ryan didn't think it was cool. Now that they're in a routine, they get out of work at a decent time. He usually gets home before 4pm. Every 3 days he has duty. What this means is he goes to work for a 24 hour time span. Then if it's not on the weekend, he'll have to work the day after duty, as well. So basically he'll be at work for about 32 hours. Yeah, that would suck. Yes, they do let him sleep. He doesn't have to stay awake the whole time. Also, when it's his duty day, he'll have to stand watch. Watch shifts range from 4-6 hours, depending on the time of the watch. That's where he stands guard on the boat to make sure there's no impending danger. Some good news for Ryan is starting Monday duty turns into every 4 days. Also, he'll be starting school. In school he'll learn sonar maintenance. So if it breaks down, Ryan would know how to fix it. He'll have school for a while. It won't always be on sonar maintenance. That class ends April 16. Not sure what class is after that. He's watching Butler basketball right now. Don't want to interrupt his concentration. So anyways, he's pretty excited for Monday to arrive. Since I don't have a job yet, I've been able to make dinner a few times. I've made spaghetti, meatloaf, tacos, chicken breasts, and then some leftovers. We had meatloaf last night. Ryan actually said it was the best meatloaf he's ever had. I thought he was joking, trying to flatter me, but he said he was serious. That was a nice compliment. I got the recipe from the internet so I can't take all the credit. At least I can follow a recipe. It's been nice cooking for 2. I was used to cooking for just me. I didn't really cook. I made small meals. I also try to make lunch for Ryan so he has food for work and doesn't spend money buying fast food. The other day we went to Costcos. This is kind of like a Sam's Club. They claim they're better. Not sure how they're better. I don't really care. Anyways, we got a lot of food in bulk. It should last us a while. We'll have to go to the store for small things every now and then like milk or eggs, but meat, we should be fine. So I guess that's it for now. We're doing well. We're still adjusting to one another. He bugs me, I bug him, but we love each other. So until next time. Love you all.

Yay!
Yay! I can upload pictures. That's so exciting. I'm thinking to upload videos, it takes forever. So I will try to upload the videos I made before so all of you who do not have a facebook account can feel included. So not much is new. I called the Harrison Medical Center hospital today to see if they made a decision about who they want to hire. I got the manager's voicemail. So I left a message letting her know I was still very interested in the per diem position. Hopefully I will get a phone call tomorrow. It will be Friday. If no phone call tomorrow, then maybe by Monday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. So I had a showing the other day on my house. The people were concerned about my roof even though the roof inspector I paid said it has 2-5 years left. They also didn't like how the paint was fading on the siding in the back. What do these people expect? If you want a perfect house then build one. My house is old. It's one of those cookie-cutter houses. It's good for a first home. Stop being so picky and buy it already. So my realtor thought it was a good idea to go down by $2000. I really don't want to, but she said the market has gone up for houses in that price range. So we'll see how it does at that price for a couple of months. It's very depressing. I'm just worried that if it does sell, I won't have the money I need to bring to closing. I know I'm not gong to make money on my house. I realize this. I just want to make sure I don't go bankrupt because I can't pay my closing costs. That's another reason I need a job badly. So I figured if my house doesn't sell in the next couple of months then I'm taking it off the market and renting it. That's the last thing I want to do. Ugh. To have to deal with renters is not my cup of tea. Well, first of all, I have never done it. Second, I don't live there. So I would have to beg for someone else to look after it. That doesn't seem quite fair. Then to top it off, all of the flooring is new, and almost every single room has fresh paint on the walls. I don't want to have to deal with renters damaging my house when I'll eventually want to place it back on the market. I know at this point I'm losing money on my house because it's empty. So something needs to be done. It's a good thing Ryan and I are living rent free otherwise, I don't know what we would do. So anyways, those are my struggles. The same thing I've been dealing with since I moved here. At least I've had a couple interviews. At least my things are here so it feels more like home. At least I have Ryan to help support me through all of this. So I'm going to try and upload some videos. It's time for me to shower. I have gotten back into my Insanity workout this week. When I tried restarting it before, there were things that stopped me from doing it. So now I'm focused. Alright, talk to you all very soon. If you have questions, you can leave comments. Love you.

What's new?
So today is the start of a new week. I had an interview today at Harrison Medical Center. There are 2 of them very close to where I live. There's one in Silverdale and one in Bremerton. Silverdale is to Bremerton like New Haven is to Fort Wayne. They're that close. Jump on the highway, and you're there. So it took me 10 minutes to get to my interview today. Wow! That's nothing. The department I applied for was the ER. They have either a per diem position or a full time position. I told them the per diem position would fit better with me and my family because I want to go home often to visit, and it would be better to be per diem so I wouldn't have to find someone to cover my shift. They said they would let me know in 2-3 days if I got the job or not. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because it is so close to home. I'm not sure what the hourly rate would be. The manager said she's not the one who decides how much to pay the employees. It is decided by someone else who goes by a scale. They look at your history and talk to your references before they make their decision. So I also had an interview on Friday at a hospital in Seattle. I decided to drive all the way there just because I wasn't sure where I was going and didn't know the ferry schedule. Of course I could have figured out what the ferry schedule was to make different arrangements but whatever. The department in Seattle is LDRP. That means labor and delivery/recovery/post partum. I originally applied for a per diem position with them also. The manager said there is also a full time position available. When I left Friday, she wanted me to call her on Monday to let her know what I decided on. It was all depending on what happened at my interview today. Of course she didn't know about the interview I had today. So basically, I want the per diem job at Harrison Medical Center. It's so much closer. If I don't get it, then hopefully the hospital in Seattle will hire me. I'm trying to keep all my doors open. Don't want to say no to anyone at this point. I can say nursing pay in Washington is about $6 more starting out as a brand new nurse than it is in Indiana. So I'm not sure what I'll make since I've been a nurse for 3 1/2 years and have ER and L&D experience. Ok, enough about that. So I filed my taxes clear back on February 25. I still have not received them. I filed them electronically. You would have thought I should have received them by now since it says you can expect them within 8-10 days. Apparently when I filed the IRS was having computer program problems so the people who filed around the time I did were going to have to wait a little longer to receive their money. They basically had to re-process my taxes. Ugh! It's so frustrating. Luckily Ryan has a job, otherwise I wouldn't know what to do. I was hoping to get my taxes so I could pay my bills. Now Ryan has to pay them. That's a big deal to me because I have been used to supporting myself now for a long time. I don't like being supported. I like contributing to our funds. So I'll keep my fingers crossed I get a job real soon so I can start contributing, especially since I have an empty house back in Fort Wayne. Now onto that. The last 2 showings I've had, I haven't heard anything back. So I'm assuming they didn't want my house, but I'm not sure why. I would still like some kind of response to know what's wrong with my house. I have a showing tomorrow afternoon. I hope they like it. It's getting closer and closer to the end of the first-time-home buyer credit. I'm not sure what will happen when it ends. It definitely worries me. There has to be someone out there who is looking for their first home. Well, anyways, Ryan has duty today. So that means I won't see him until tomorrow after he gets off work. He's usually grumpy the day after he has duty. He's usually very exhausted. So I will keep myself occupied today/night by watching tv and movies. I might do some reading. I already walked Niko. So, I'll find things to do. Anyways, that's the newest news in my life. Until next time.

No one knows
I had my first interview today. Finally, someone might want to hire me. I've been feeling really down about not being able to find a job. So the hospital is in Seattle. It took me about and hour and 20 minutes to drive there. It took me 2 hours to drive home. So, I'm thinking, if I take this position, I will be taking the ferry to work. There is no way I'm going to face that traffic every time I have to go to work. It's in the labor and delivery unit. I have some things to think about. I initially applied for a per diem position which means you work when the unit needs you. You don't have a pointed position. So if the census is low, then you stay home. They also said there is a full time position open. I would be working 3 twelve hour shifts a week on nights. The same thing I did in Fort Wayne. 7p-7a. I thought the per diem position would be better so I wouldn't have to look for someone to cover my shifts when I wanted to visit home. When sharing my concerns with the manager, she made it sound like they are very flexible. So maybe I would take the full time position so I know I would be receiving a paycheck every 2 weeks. Ok, other things to think about are, I have another interview on Monday at a local hospital. It would be in the ER. I applied for a per diem position there and a pointed position as well. The benefits of working there would be it's less than a 20 minute drive to work. I'm not sure what the pay difference would be from one hospital to the next. I will know after my interview on Monday. So if the pay is the same or close to it, if the per diem position is still available, which one should I choose. I'm not sure yet. Either way, I'm happy to be getting interviews. It's a step in the right direction. I feel like things are slowly getting better. I arrived safely to Washington. My things arrived safely to Washington. I'm finally getting interviewed. People are still looking at my house but not really making any offers at this time. So, I need to get a job. Then it would be great if my house would sell. I'm not sure what I'll do if it doesn't sell by the time the first time home buyers credit is over. It's over at the end of April. I'll probably have to rent it out which is the last thing I want to do. I keep praying that God will find someone who falls in love with my house and wants to make it their own. He's looking hard for just the right person. I guess He hasn't found the right person yet. So enough whining. Tomorrow is Saturday. Ryan has the weekend off. We get to hang pictures and set out frames and make our home even more pretty. Yay! I know he's really looking forward to me putting him to work. So I'm getting pretty tired. I'm thinking it's time for bed. I'll let you know how this weekend goes. I'll make a video and post it to facebook since my blog doesn't seem to know how to download a simple video. Anyways, love you all.

Still waiting
So, my things arrived on Monday. I am way excited. I worked my butt off the last 3 days to make our home pretty. There's still much to do, but Ryan and I got a lot done. It feels more like home. Furniture is in it's place, clothes are hung, the kitchen is full. Next on the to do list is to decorate. This means hanging art on the walls, arranging picture frames around the house, and placing nic-nacs throughout. Ryan has this weekend off so he'll be able to help me hang things on the wall. Plus, we'll be able to hang out all weekend. I'm pretty excited. I like spending time with him. So ok, I had an ER manager call last week wondering if I was interested in a job. I called her on Monday to see if the position was still available. She said she needed to talk to the other manager to see when a good time was for the both of them to set up an interview. Ok, well, that was Monday, and it's now Thursday. There has been no interview or phone call again to set up an interview. Ugh. So frustrating. Then yesterday someone else called me for a labor and delivery position I applied for a long time ago at a hospital in Seattle. She said they were going to set up a phone interview. She called later and left a message to say they were going to set up a face to face interview since I was in the area. I called her back but got her voicemail. So when and where is the interview? Who knows? She never called back. Dude, so very irritating. I just want a job. Just because there's a shortage of nurses every where doesn't mean it's easy peasy to get a job. I don't know what else to do. I've applied and applied. I got my RN license in Washington. Just hire me already. Also, I had a showing last week. Never got a response. I had a showing yesterday. No response yet either. Things just aren't going so well. I mean I did get my things, and our house is looking more homey. I get to see my honey every day. I just wish I could get a job and wish my house would sell. Maybe I'm asking for too much. I need to be more patient. That's what I keep saying to myself. It's not working. So today I was pretty lazy. I haven't done too much. I took some trash out. I washed a load of jeans for the 4th time because I was trying to get ink stains out of them. Then I sat down on the couch and watched shows and movies. Yep, pretty lazy. Well, that's it for now. You'll get more updates later.

Day 1
So I got my things today. Very exciting. The movers got here around 8:15am and left around 9:30am. I had a crap load of boxes, I mean a crap load. So I spent all day going through every single box. That's right, every single box. When Ryan got home from work, he broke down the boxes so it wasn't a huge mess. My mind is blank. I'm pretty exhausted. Tomorrow is going to be another long day. It shouldn't be as bad as today. There are a couple things that seem to be missing. A floor lamp I have is missing the part where the shade connects to, and I'm not sure where Niko's food dish is. I might have to get him a new one. So other than that, I'm might have to bring this to an end. Good night.

What now?
So things are definitely different for me. I've been here for 11 days now. I've gone from staying up until 3am and sleeping in until 1 or 2pm to going to bed around 10 or 11pm and getting up around 8 or 9am. I have now been unemployed since February 25. So instead of going to work 3 times a week, I sit around and think of things I can do to keep myself occupied. So to keep myself occupied today, I sat around half of the day watching tv. Then I was bored with that so I started my workout again. I wanted to take Niko for a walk, but I got out of the shower too late, plus, I had to wait for the cable people to come bye AGAIN to fix my internet and cable. This is the 3rd time someone has had to fix the internet/cable. Hopefully they fixed it for good this time. So I was doing my Insanity workout, but with the move, I got off schedule. I was going to restart my workout on Monday when I had my pots and pans and utensils to make real food, but I was so bored today I decided to start my 60 day program today. I did notice a difference when I was doing it the first time through, so hopefully I'll see even more of a change the second time through. So anyways, what am I doing right now? Yep, watching tv. Alright, that's it for now. Until later.

Not Much
So it's Friday. Ryan went back to work today. I didn't get much accomplished. I watched my shows on the computer. I cleaned the kitchen counters and the bathroom. Wish I could vacuum my floors. Have to wait until Monday. I made our first home cooked meal. It wasn't just nachos. It wasn't spectacular either, but it saved us money from eating out. I made baked potatoes and salad with chicken in it. Ok, that sounds a little more fancy than it really was. The potatoes were baked in the microwave. I have to tell you, I'm not sure why, but the potatoes were very good. I can't take credit for them. Ryan even said it was one of the best potatoes he's had in a while also. Wish I could say it was something I did. Anyways, you may be questioning what kind of chicken went into the salad. Well, it was one of those breaded chicken patties from Tyson. Yep, I microwaved the chicken then cut it up and placed it in our salads. Very clever, huh? I know you're jealous of my mad skills. Ok, enough talk on my expertise in the kitchen. So I called the manager of the ER back today to make sure she got my first message and to show her I was still interested in the job. Well, no phone call back. I'm thinking maybe she just wasn't in the office today. So maybe Monday I will get a phone call. I've been doing a lot of waiting. It gets tiring and frustrating. Not much more I can do other than keep my fingers crossed and continue asking God for His help. I'm sure He has a plan for me. Not sure what it is. Maybe He's trying to teach me patience or teach me to trust in Him more. Well, enough moping. So we are going to be purchasing a washer and dryer very soon. It will be very useful when my stuff arrives. A lot of Ryan's clothes are being delivered with my things, and they are in much need of a good wash. So I had a showing yesterday. Not sure how it went. I haven't heard the feedback yet. I'm thinking they weren't interested because I would think I would have heard something by now if they were. So I will keep you updated on my house situation and job search situation. I think that's about it for now. Love you all.

Almost
So we got some furniture today so we don't have to sit on the floor and watch tv anymore. YAY! We're pretty excited. We'll be even more excited when the real furniture arrives on Monday. I hope there is no delay in it's arrival. So I've been trying and trying to upload pictures and a video to my blog so people who don't have facebook can see where we're staying. I have been unsuccessful. I'm not sure why or what the problem is. Once I get it figured out, you will see pictures. If you want to see them sooner, you might just have to open a facebook account. So I got a little excited today. I applied for an ER per diem job at Harrison Medical Center today, one of the local hospitals. The manager or supervisor or whatever called me today to see if I was still interested. Of course I had to be in the shower when the very important phone call took place. I called her back and left a message letting her know I was still very interested. Ryan said I sounded a bit desperate when I left the message. Well, I am desperate. I'm hoping she calls me back tomorrow and maybe gets something set up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I know God is on my side. Other than that, we're still into movies because, well, we don't have much else to do. Ryan goes back to work tomorrow. He's actually excited about it because it will give him something to do. Also, we can't spend every waking moment together. We'll kill each other. I don't think there's much more to say, at least for now....

We're here
We finally moved into our new home. It's still Navy housing, but it's off base which is what Ryan wanted. It's like an apartment/duplex. We don't have any neighbors above us or beside us. The units are empty. Woo hoo! The only thing we have to pay for is cable/internet. We got our internet and cable set up today. So now we get to watch all the movies and tv we want while surfing the web. Yay! So exciting. I guess there's no air conditioning, but the guy who set us up with the place says we won't need it. There are so many tall, beautiful trees around us, they'll give us plenty of shade. Niko and Loui are settling in. Niko cried like crazy yesterday when we left him to go run errands. I think he really believes we are never coming back when we leave. They've really been taken for a loop. They'll be fine. So now all we need is furniture. We have an airmattress. I think by the time we get our furniture, their will be butt prints in the carpet all over the house because we have no where else to sit. It will also be nice when my stuff arrives so we can have some home cooked meals instead of eating out all the time. Yes, I know how to cook. Give me a recipe, and I'll whip up a delicious meal. It's sunny today, so we're going to take Niko for a nice walk. Try to find a park so we can play catch with his kong. I tried calling different doctor's offices today to see if they're hiring. Most said no, but they'll accept my resume. It's very depressing not having a job. I hate not being able to contribute to our daily spending. I'm not used to being taken care of. I'm usually the one taking care of someone else. I guess it's a nice change, but I like having money coming in. I have been trying to figure out how to upload videos to this so you can see where we are staying. I'll figure it out. Ok, time to get going.

Let's go!
Ok, so we are moving tomorrow. We will be living in Jackson Park. They are basically duplexes. It's like 4 duplexes attached to each other. It'll be a 2 bedroom, 1 bath duplex. I wanted a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, but seeing as how I don't have a job and my house in Fort Wayne still hasn't sold, we will live in Navy housing. It's close to a lake and a path to walk my dog. It's a fenced in backyard and private. We have tall trees and a small creek behind the duplex. I'm excited to move in. We will be sleeping on an air matress for about a week because my things won't arrive until 3-15-10, but we'll be out of the hotel and in our own place. It'll be our first home as a married couple. I can't wait. I still don't have a job. Boo. I have applied to several other positions at the local hospital. I'm hoping for anything at this point. There was hail that fell from the sky today. What was so weird about it was it's not really even cold. I guess Washington has a cold front coming through so it will get down into the 40's. I don't think they know what a cold front is. Our most current like/hobby at this time is watching movies. We can't get enough. "So what do you want to do tonight?" "Watch a movie." "Ok." Our most recent movie was Public Enemies. Tonight we'll watch The Hurt Locker. I think that's about it.

Starting out
So we have now been married for 3 months and 4 days. Everyone keeps asking how married life is. Well, considering we haven't lived together until 5 days ago, it was hard to say how it felt being married. I arrived in Washington on March 2nd. We are currently staying in the Navy Lodge which is located on base in Bangor, Washington. We wanted to find a house to rent and make it our own. We found that house that would have been a perfect first place for us. However, we decided against it, or I told Ryan it wasn't going to work, since I am currently unemployed. So we are going to live in Jackson Park which is navy housing. I think we will make it work. As long as we are together, anything will do. It's still weird and doesn't feel real yet. I think we're still waiting for the day I go home. I don't think it will feel real until a few months from now when I haven't seen my family or friends. I need to get one of the flight miles credit cards since I'll be making lots of trips home to Fort Wayne. Our animals are doing well. Loui can adjust to anything easily. It will be nice when Niko has a yard to play in. It won't be as large as the yard in Fort Wayne, but it will do. It's better than being stuck in a hotel room. Pooky, well, he's still hanging out. I have applied to several jobs at the local hospital here. I will take anything at this point. I know I haven't even been here a week, and I need to be patient, but patience doesn't come easy for me. So that's pretty much it. We are enjoying our time together. It will definitely be a huge adjustment. It will be a challenge. I'm up for anything.
